Counterhegemonic feminisms have rarely been studied in France. Building upon the recent work on U.S. Black Feminism, this conference focuses on theories and actions that have sprung from other American regions but are lesser known in France. This comparative dialogue will examine the plurality and strengths of these movements across the Americas. Selected papers will deal with the specific features of these feminisms and their contribution to the fight against race, gender, sexuality and class oppression. The arts play a fundamental role in both the issues raised and privileged forms of action. The conference will analyse the transgressive and revolutionary aspects of women’s actions in the Americas.
